I like your idea for the combos. That always seems to add to game play. And your idea for the blocks is great. I like the whole concept of being able to throw them or just place them. Maybe some should have a conditional activation (like a timer, a certain time or environment in which you can use it, or maybe even "remote detonation").
The PIE idea, especially the "pie chart" life meter, is amazing. You could have different flavors of pie too, which give you certain abilities (cherry pie for life, and other flavors for some specials). There should also be a "crouch" function |C|, and maybe |S| for special.
Altogether, this is an excellent idea. I say we do it.

Finnaly, a nice remake of Metroid II! I remember playing this on the gameboy. Lots of influential stuff came from here. Like multiple stages of a Metroids life span, (Queen Metroid being the final boss) and things like the spider ball.

Final Destination rings in your ears. You taste metal in your mouth as your hands tighten around your head like a Gamecube controller. You shake uncontrollably. Time is too slow to count for you get bored after a minute. Brawl is coming... Lets pray for patient. (I'm calling it now. The street Date will be broken on the 3. If not then early Saturday, March 8.)

This is a free PC game that is based off of Elite Beat Agents. It is compelling because it increases the complexity by adding another axis of freedom not present in DDR or Guitar Hero. The level editor is also surprisingly intuitive.

I could actually flesh it out into a useful app but I am not motivated to at this time.
