2008 electionfloridapaper ballotsvote early vote often

Hey Florida, don't drop the ball! cnn.com

Early voting is in progress in a few States, but not going smoothly.

"Total disaster," said a voter in Florida's Broward County. "You get up there, and you waited three hours, and then the line totally stops. It's very frustrating."

What H. P. Lovecraft might have said about the unholy darkness that is candy advertising copy mcsweeneys.net

Excerpt: You must not think me mad when I tell you what I found below the thin shell of chocolate used to disguise this bonbon's true face. Yes! Hidden beneath its rich exterior is a hideously moist cherry cordial! What deranged architect could have engineered this non-Euclidean aberration? I dare not speculate.

And there is more

"If people believe prices will be lower next month, they may wait to buy; if too many shoppers wait, the economy spirals downward."

I'm not even surprised. Favors for friends out of public money. Horrifying. But should we not have a Fed? How else could we do this? On the same subject, Rush Limbaugh has at times advocated for a public vote on Federal Reserve Chairman. I mean, that's hilarious. Elect someone popular as opposed to qualified. THAT would cause a financial melt down.

Pyss, your response was fascinating. Looking at the clip again, I note that Bashir didn't talk to Maher, but showed clips from another interviewer. They pointed out that Americans are really involved in the issue of faith. More so than people in some other parts of the developed world. I'm impressed that Maher feels able to discuss this topic at all. Politicians certainly can't, for fear that it would cost them votes.

Bill Maher discusses his new movie/documentary "Religulous" with Martin Bashir. Some critics are saying that Maher went out of his way to interview whacked out fringe faiths instead of sensible mainstream sects, but we have to remember that even the most stodgy ones started out with street preachers and prophets. They must have all seemed pretty "out there" when they were new.

My fellow Vortisoid: watch the clip and and tell me what you think.

Do I want to know what my friends are browsing? (Mostly, but it depends on how weird my friends are.) Do I want my friends to know what I am browsing before I tell them about it? This could speed up communication, much of what we talk about now, everyone would ALREADY know. But then, what would we talk about?
